100 calorie snack suggestions
Great snack ideas from today’s G+M - these are “real” food options that will keep you fueled and satisfied. My go-to snack is an apple with peanut butter or cheese and crackers.
Half an apple with 2 teaspoons of peanut butter
One orange and 3 almonds
10 cashew nuts
14 almonds
3 cups of air popped popcorn
1 ounce of part skim cheese and 3 whole grain crackers

New Year's Eve Drinks/Dessert
MT and I will be hosting a small New Year’s Eve dinner - I’ve put myself in charge of cocktails and dessert (naturally).
We’ll be sipping French 75s and finishing with molten chocolate cakes.

Back to the gym
The last few days have been filled with “treat foods”, many enjoyable glasses of wine and a few 5 km walks with Molly. I’ve loved every minute of it but I’m looking forward to getting back to the gym tomorrow morning. My plan for this shortened week is:
Wednesday: weights and 30 minutes cardio
Thursday: 5 mile run with speed pick-ups
Friday: weights and 30 minutes...
Festive fun with family and friends took over my life the past few days. I’ll be back to regular posting tomorrow.
Happy Holidays!

Fun in the kitchen
I am very lucky that I only have a half-day of work today - my to-do list is LONG and it includes a few hours in the kitchen!
On my baking list is:
Cranberry pistachio bark
Cranberry lemon scones
Granola
On my cooking list is:
Artichoke dip
Prosciutto wrapped figs
Again, thank you Skinny Taste!
I need to try and resist eating everything. Also, let’s hope nothing burns - I’m...

Scarlett Johansson never "slops around in sweats" →
I say bs… an elastic waistband is a must-have after large meals and too many cocktails. Also, we have to think that ScarJo can’t always look amazing!!

Making a list and checking it twice
The Christmas countdown is on at our house! I (gift shopping is one of “my” things) have a handful of stocking stuffers, a plethora of wrapping paper and a few books left to buy - all of which can be easily found in the two block radius around my office or house.
This is a big improvement from years past - I am normally the type of person who hits the mall on Christmas Eve!

Easy Wednesday dinner
Busy day! Dinner tonight is going to be typical weeknight fare - veggie burgers. Instead of the usual side salad I’m going to make Embracing Balance’s kale chips - yum! Can’t wait to dig in.
Kale Chips Round Two: Lemon Parmesan
fresh lemon juice (citrus helps us absorb the yummy kale vitamins!)
white wine vinegar
olive oil
dried Italian herbs
coarse sea salt
cracked...

Working it Wednesday
Another mid-week weights session is complete! I overslept so I had to move quickly but I still managed to tackle a few key exercises.
30 minutes on the elliptical
15 reps of weighted walking lunges (3 sets)
15 reps of biceps curls (3 sets)
15 reps of squats (3 sets)
15 reps of tricep dips (3 sets)
12 reps of TRX push-ups (3 sets) - ouch!
Soon enough I’ll have arms like Madge (not sure...

Skinny artichoke dip
I made this dip for a girls holiday get-together that I hosted last night. It was easy (really!), delicious and could be made ahead of time - perfect for a Monday night!
I’m always looking for lower calorie/fat recipes that actually taste good - Skinny Taste is my go-to resource. MT isn’t a big fan of light food but even he enjoys these dishes.

Lusting Lundi
Mondays can be a bit a blah (even in Francais) so I’ve decided to create a weekly post that highlights the frivolous things that I’m lusting over.
A white Christmas - I heard on the news this morning that Toronto is going to remain bare on December 25th. We can always dream, right?

An eternity scarf - love these. They are super cozy but still have a sense of style.

Review: Harbord Room
On Friday night, MT and I joined a group of friends for dinner at one of our favourites restaurants, The Harbord Room. Harbord Room offers a delicious selection of large and small plates and fun cocktails in a comfortable and unpretentious environment.
The bubble gum pink room is chic and sexy with lots of candles, a long bar and only about eight tables. Reservations can be made and are strongly...

Festive mani
These sparkly nails are sure to add a little holiday spirit to my outfits this Christmas season.
My friend is a bit more bold - love the colour combination, she’s going to wow the English countryside.
